Stawi Engages Lwakhakha Town Council on Cross-border Trade

Stawi Development Initiative held a consultative engagement with Lwakhakha Town Council to explore opportunities and challenges affecting cross-border trade and the utilization of the Lwakhakha market.

The engagement highlighted key challenges including low market utilization, limited trader information, inadequate infrastructure, informal trade and gaps in market governance. It also identified opportunities to strengthen women and youth participation in formal cross-border trade.

Stawi and the Town Council agreed on the need for stronger stakeholder collaboration, trader sensitization, improved market infrastructure and a multi-stakeholder dialogue to develop practical solutions.

Together, we can transform Lwakhakha into an organized, inclusive, secure and economically productive cross-border trading hub.
