Community Participation in the National Cleaning Day Initiative

On 25 July 2026, Stawi partnered with Bubutu Town Council, Uganda Police, Village Health Teams, local leaders, and community members to implement the inaugural National Cleaning Day in Bubutu Town Council, Namisindwa District. The exercise involved street sweeping, waste collection, drainage clearing, vegetation removal, and cleaning of public spaces, resulting in a cleaner trading centre and improved sanitation. It also strengthened collaboration among stakeholders and highlighted key sanitation gaps, including inadequate public toilets and waste management facilities. The Town Council committed to emptying two public pit latrines, while Stawi donated WASH facilities and pledged continued support for future community cleaning initiatives.
